One of the things running in the background may be hijackthis.exe which is a process relating to the Hijackthis piece of software by Merlin. Hijackthis is a freeware spyware removal tool for the Microsoft Windows platform. Unlike most other pieces of spyware-removal software, Hijackthis does not act by detecting files on your system that are contained within a list of known harmful files. Instead, Hijackthis provides the user with a list of all the differences between their system and what a known spyware-free environment contains. This allows the user to determine which things they wish to remove. However, it is advisable for inexperienced users to apply Hijackthis as more of a spyware diagnosis tool, as it is possible to delete vital processes and create system instability.

vsmon.exe is another security process which may be running in the background of Windows, and is associated with the ZoneAlarm firewall. ZoneAlarm firewall monitors Internet traffic and provides the user with alerts when the security rules set up have been breached. Given the nature of firewalls, vsmon.exe should not be terminated in order to maintain a secure and virus-free system.
So if you find them on your computer, don’t uninstall or delete them. You are on the safe side.
